The Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year award is among the Chamber's most prestigious community recognition awards.  To be considered for the award, the nominee should be someone who enjoys a reputation for continuous community service, has been honored for involvement with business-related and/or personal affiliations or professional associations, and has impacted and made a difference in Greenville-Pitt County over the past year.  For a list of past recipients, click here.

The Citizen of the Year shall be chosen by a selection committee which shall be appointed by the current Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce and shall remain anonymous.  The selection committee will review and weigh the nominees based on leadership, community involvement, volunteerism, and specific contributions to the community.

Nominations will be accepted through Friday, November 22, 2024.  The recipient of the award will be announced during the Chamber's Annual Membership Celebration in early 2024.

*At least one (1) letter of support is required to be submitted on behalf of the nominee.  Additional letters of support may be submitted, and are encouraged, but only five (5) total will be considered.  Letters of support must be sent to Trent McGee at trent@remove-thisgreenvillenc.org and submitted by Friday, November 22, 2024.  Letters of support received after November 22 will not be considered.

The following qualifications should be considered as reasons for nomination:

• Community Service: The nominee's contribution as a community servant.  This includes local, county and state-level participation.  This is more than simply membership in civic, charitable, political, religious, or service organizations.
  
  
• Personal and/or Professional Accomplishments: Any special recognitions or involvement in special projects with nominee's business or organization and/or personal accomplishments.  Business-related and/or personal affiliations, professional associations, directorships, or other designations should be considered.
  
  
• Making a Difference: Consider how this nominee's involvement has had a significant impact on Greenville-Pitt County in the past year and/or recent years.
