WTIB named as top five finalist for Marconi Award as National Radio Station of the Year

GREENVILLE, NCWTIB-FM has been chosen by the National Association of Broadcasters as one of five finalists for the Marconi Award for National Radio Station of the Year in the medium market category.  More information regarding annual Marconi Awards is available in the release from NAB which can be viewed in this link:  2023 NAB Marconi Radio Award Finalists Announced | Newsroom | National Association of Broadcasters

WTIB was named Radio Station of the Year by the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters in the medium market division for this year.  The Marconi Awards are not connected to the state broadcasters awards. WTIB is owned and operated by IBX Media headquartered in Greenville.  The company has six radio properties.

The station is being recognized for its work as a full-service broadcaster including its programming and community involvement.  WTIB broadcasts radiothons annually and raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for organizations such as the James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital, Pitt County Operation Santa Claus, Pitt-Greenville Crime Stoppers and more.  In one recent year the station raised more than $500,000 for local charities in eastern North Carolina.   WTIB, along with other IBX Media stations, also started a free community concert series for Greenville called Concert on the Common which draws thousands annually.  The Junior League of Greenville is one of the beneficiaries of the spring and summer series.

“We were shocked and excited to hear we had made the top five in the country”, said IBX Media President Henry Hinton.  “In all honesty I never dreamed we’d get this type of national recognition.  It’s very humbling and a testimony to our great team and the wonderful communities we serve”.

The winners will be announced on October 25 at the Marconi Awards Dinner, presented by Xperi, during NAB Show New York in Manhattan.
