Chamber announces the finalists for the 2017 Small Business Leader of the Year

The Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce announced the three finalists for the 2017 Small Business Leader of the Year.  The finalists include: John K. Farkas, Michael Overton, and Ashley-Nicole Russell.  One of these three finalists will be selected as the 2017 Small Business Leader of the Year during the Chamber's Small Business Awards Breakfast, presented by First Citizens Bank, on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the Holiday Inn Greenville.

John K. Farkas is the founder and principal of JKF Architecture in Greenville.  JKF Architecture provides a full-range of traditional and non-traditional architecture services suitable for a variety of projects.  Farkas is responsible for the firm's overall direction and personally involved with each project from start to finish.  As a graduate of the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Farkas holds degrees in both Architecture and Civil Engineering.  He is a Registered Architect in North and South Carolina, Virginia, and New Jersey, and is certified with the National Council of Architectural Registration Board.

Michael Overton is the owner of The Overton Group, LLC in Greenville.  The Overton Group, LLC is a real estate and property management company serving Greenville, Wilson, Washington, New Bern, Jacksonville, Morehead City and surrounding communities.  Overton is a NC General Contractor and holds a broker's license in North and South Carolina.  He specializes in Financial Analysis and is CCIM designated and has completed courses through ICSC University at the Wharton School of Business.  Overton earned a degree in Business Marketing from East Carolina University in 1996.

Ashley-Nicole Russell is the owner of and attorney at The Law Offices of Ashley-Nicole Russell, P.A. in Greenville.  Ashley-Nicole opened The Law Offices of Ashley-Nicole Russell, P.A. to help families navigate the emotional and legal aspects of separation and divorce in eastern North Carolina.  She is the first practicing Collaborative Attorney in Greenville.  Ashley-Nicole graduated from Appalachian State University, Magna Cum Laude, with a BS in Political Science and a BSCJ in Criminal Justice.  She went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina Central University School of Law.

The Chamber hosts the Small Business Awards Breakfast each year to honor leaders in the Pitt County business community who have demonstrated successful operations of their business and made significant impacts on the community.  Finalists are selected from nominations from their peers.
