GREENVILLE, NC – The Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce has announced a recently launched Business Recovery Task Force as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic to identify and address Pitt County’s community and economic recovery needs.
Comprised of nineteen public and private sector leaders and industry experts, the task force has created areas of focus to guide businesses, citizens, and visitors alike through the process of reviving and continuing to support our local economy. The task force will focus on:
- Identifying key performance indicators based on survey results and economic indicators leading to benchmark metrics for a data-driven approach to recovery.
- Marketing, educating and promotion of a hyper-local safety campaign encouraging local businesses to commit to the pledge to "Go Safely."
- Researching and sharing best practices to revive and support our local economy and partnering with leading entities to implement.
“The Chamber and our local community is committed to supporting our local economy and through the work of the talented leadership in our Recovery Task Force, are pleased to roll out a new campaign to ‘Go Safely', " said Chamber President Kate Teel. “In this time and through this work, safety is our driving factor while continuing to support our local economy in all ways.”
As local businesses continue to operate following weeks of many being closed, the task force has launched the Go Safely Commitment. By taking the commitment, a business declares it is taking steps based upon local and state guidance to:
- Monitor the health of employees
- Wear masks
- Clean frequently
- Encourage frequent hand washing
The Go Safely Commitment, as part of the Business Recovery Task Force, includes a website for comprehensive operating and recovery information and a place where local businesses can take the commitment and our community to see who has already committed. “By taking necessary precautions and sharing the message that Greenville and Pitt County is committed to Go Safely, local businesses can play an active role in ensuring and promoting customer and employee confidence,” said Teel.
In the coming days, the Business Recovery Task Force will offer local businesses who Commit to Go Safely a downloadable marketing package to include a window decal sticker and social media graphics. Once a business has committed to Go Safely, their location will be added to the website for citizens and visitors to view.
