Chamber Welcomes New Class of Community Leaders

31 AUG

GREENVILLE, NC (August 31, 2026) – The Greater Greenville Chamber is proud to announce the 2026-2027 class of Leadership Pitt County, presented by Nutrien. This year’s cohort includes 29 professionals representing businesses, nonprofits, educational institutions, government agencies and community organizations across Greenville and Pitt County.

Previously known as the Leadership Institute, Leadership Pitt County is an eight-month program focused on developing informed, connected and engaged leaders who are prepared to serve their community. Since its inception in 1983, more than 1,115 civic leaders have graduated from the program.

“What makes Leadership Pitt County special is what happens when you bring together 29 people who may work in very different spaces but share a desire to make a difference in this community,” said Kimber Stone, Director of Development & Member Engagement for the Greater Greenville Chamber. “Over the next eight months, we want to challenge them to look beyond their own businesses/ organizations, learn from each other and think about where their leadership can have the greatest impact. My hope is that the relationships and perspectives they gain through this experience continue to influence how they lead and serve Pitt County long after graduation.”

The Class of 2026-2027 represents 25 organizations, including Avient, CareMaster, City of Greenville Fire/Rescue, ECU Health, ECU Office of Expert Services, First Citizens Bank, Flatlands Insurance Group, Greenville Utilities Commission, Gregory Poole Equipment Company, Heart for ENC, Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inner Banks Home Builders Association, Junior League of Greenville, NC, Kittrell & Armstrong, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Pitt Community College, Pitt County Government, Pitt County Schools, Southern Bank, State Employees Credit Union, T.A. Loving Company, Victra, Visit Greenville, NC, WCTI-TV News 12, and Ward and Smith, P.A.

The cohort recently gathered for its Opening Reception at the Pitt-Greenville Airport Authority, marking the start of a program that will continue through May. Participants will next attend an overnight retreat before beginning a series of monthly sessions focused on different areas of life and leadership in Pitt County.

Session topics include government and law, community engagement, economic growth and development, education, business and industry, and health care. Through site visits, conversations with local leaders and hands-on experiences, participants will gain a broader perspective on the people, institutions and industries that influence the region.

Along the way, members of this cohort will build relationships with their peers, identify new opportunities to get involved and strengthen the leadership skills needed to make an impact beyond the program. Leadership Pitt County will conclude with a graduation ceremony, presented by ECU Health, and the unveiling of their group projects.
