GREENVILLE, NC – Bring your dancing shoes and your appetites to Bar-B-Grooves Music & Barbecue Festival Saturday, June 17 from 12pm – 6pm at the Greenville Town Common. This year the annual Carroll Dashiell Greenville Grooves Music Festival and the Carolina Barbecue Festival have joined forces to bring everyone together for one big groovy family-friendly, FREE community celebration of beats and eats on the Tar River!

Bring your friends and family to enjoy delicious barbecue and street eats, grog, vendors, kids activities, amazing musicians and entertainers. Local jazz great and East Carolina University professor Carroll V. Dashiell will host and perform with his popular Motown, R&B, and Classic Review in honor of African American Music Month in June.

African American Music Appreciation Month was originally started in 1979 by President Jimmy Carter in celebration of African American music. Greenville is on the North Carolina African-American Music Trail, and was the home of jazz legend Billy Taylor. The annual Billy Taylor Jazz Festival at East Carolina University celebrates his legacy in music. The African American Music Series at Emerge Gallery & Arts Center on Second Fridays from September through May also serves to honor the rich heritage of African American music in Greenville and the Eastern North Carolina region.

Many more local musicians and performers will also entertain the crowd at Barb-B-Grooves.
