East Carolina University, the third largest university in North Carolina more than 27,000 students, offers 216 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in its twelve professional schools and the College of Arts & Sciences. More than 5,200 faculty and staff are employed at the University, making it one of Pitt County's largest employers.
Located on 392 acres adjacent to downtown Greenville, ECU is an important resource for Greenville-Pitt County residents. It provides libraries and other educational and research services, outstanding cultural programming and the excitement of a nationally recognized division 1-A sports program.

Pitt Community College annually enrolls more than 10,000 students and offers two-year college transfer, two-year technical, one-year vocational, short-term certificate programs and extensive continuing education programs. Specific technical curricula include: industrial maintenance, machinist, welding, manufacturing and electronics engineering, industrial management, computer programming, electronic servicing, commercial art, and medical professions.
The college currently offers more classes via the Internet than any other community college in the state and is an active partner with the Southern Regional Electronic Campus, which provides virtual classes originating from colleges and universities in 15 southern states.
Located on over 294 acres in Winterville, the college serves one of every seven adults in Pitt County each year. The college is a leader in training the local workforce from basic training to high tech skills for small businesses and new and expanding industries.
