Local phone service in Pitt County and all its municipalities is provided by Embarq Corporation. There are several other companies that offer custom design, purchase, installation and maintenance of telecommunication systems. Mobile and cell phone services are available in the area.
Cable television is available in all incorporated towns of at least 1,000 and is provided by Suddenlink and Time Warner Cable. Digital cable services are also available through Suddenlink. All three major networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) as well as Fox Broadcasting is received in the area. All stations broadcast under maximum power allowed by the FCC. The Public Broadcasting System is brought to residents of the state of North Carolina through the University of North Carolina Public Television Network. Satellite is also available and offered through several providers.
Advanced data services for residential and commercial are available in Pitt County through Suddenlink, as well as high speed internet. Embarq also offers broadband data and internet services in Pitt County.
Three FM stations and two AM stations originating from within Pitt County, and most broadcast 24 hours a day. However, Pitt County also receives signals from dozens of other stations. A wide variety of programming is available and all are emergency broadcast stations.
The Daily Reflector, a major regional newspaper and The News and Observer, a major metropolitan paper are both available in the area as well as five other local newspapers.
