Business Leadership Council

Mission

Provide a forum for networking and sharing best practices with other business leaders in the community and to offer further opportunities for professional development, including the refinement of leadership and management skills.

Overview

The Business Leadership Council's goal is to meet the needs of the Business Leader through professional development and networking opportunities.

The Council will consist of the following components: Professional Development, Leadership, Management and Networking.

By becoming a member of this elite group of business professionals you will have the opportunity to share best practices as well as gather information from other business leaders who face the same obstacles as you.

The Business Leadership Council is now studying The 8 Dimensions of Leadership.

Copies of the book are available from the Chamber office and on websites where good books are sold.  For more information or to request the FREE Leadership map that accompanies the book, email Susanne Sartelle.

To be an effective leader you need to know your strengths—but that’s only part of the story. You also need a broad perspective on all the behaviors needed to be an effective leader. This book provides both.

Using the third-generation DiSC® online personality assessment—one of the most scientifically validated tools available—The 8 Dimensions of Leadership helps you identify your primary leadership dimension. Whether you are a Pioneering, Energizing, Affirming, Inclusive, Humble, Deliberate, Resolute, or Commanding leader, the authors help you understand the psychological drivers, motivations, and “blind spots” characteristic of your style.

But no single style will take you all the way. A Humble leader may have a hard time making tough decisions. A Commanding leader may run roughshod over potential allies. The authors detail the lessons all leaders can learn from each style, enabling you to craft a multidimensional approach to becoming the leader you aspire to be.

The 8 Dimensions of Leadership Map (EPIC)
To get the most out of The 8 Dimensions of Leadership, the book is paired with a free online assessment, and a group discussion with fellow Business Leadership Council members.

The 8 Dimensions of Leadership Map tells you your primary leadership dimension, and two dimensions that you may need to work on. This Map is designed to guide you through the book.  The discussion will be held on April 26, 2012, at 8 a.m. at the BLC regular meeting, City Hotel & Bistro.

The 8 Dimensions of Leadership Map is built using the Everything DiSC® model. After responding to the online Everything DiSC assessment, along with several leadership-specific needs-analysis questions, you will receive a one-page map that explains your primary leadership dimension and points you to specific chapters in the book. This enhances your reading experience.
